I love a good tag!

Brittany Ann at Living in the Moment has given me the Honest Scrap Award!! I have to list 10 honest-to-goodness facts about myself - I hope none of my truths are too bad!

1. When I was in high school, I worked for my parents’ company. As I was pulling into the parking spot next to my dad’s pickup truck (I had a Z28 . . yes, we’re talking the 80s), I cut the turn too close and my passenger door met dad’s rear bumper. Not a pretty sight – made a HUGE dent in my door. I didn’t tell my parents what I had done. Weeks later, my mom went to get into my car and saw the damage and wanted to know what had happened. I should have won an Oscar for this performance . . . I acted surprised and said someone must have hit my car at the mall!! They never knew what really happened until years later and then they just laughed. (It seems Brittany Ann and I have something in common with cars and high school)

2. I sometimes will hide purchases from the hubby. C’mon, who doesn’t do this?!!!!

3. I wish I had a passion for something. Some are passionate about exercising, a hobby, their job . . . I’ve got nothing. My job pays the bills, I enjoy exercising when I do it, but I just don’t love it and can’t seem to find a hobby to fall in love with.

4. In my early 20s, my boyfriend and I jumped the fence at my townhouse complex to swim in the pool late night. It was short lived . . . the police arrived.

5. I really wish we were taking a week vacation to the beach. Due to things out of my control, it’s not happening this summer.

6. I want to move further South. If I had to do it all over again, once I was out of college I would have moved to my dream town to start life. Once you are married with kids, it’s not so easy to pick up and move.

7. Being a stepmom is really hard.

8. I love reality TV and mindless beach reads.

9. I’m a magazineaholic – I have stacks to read!!

10. I miss the side of town I had to move from when I married hubby. I moved to his side of town which is just across the river from where I lived, but I didn’t know where anything was!! I had a meltdown the second week we were married . . . . trying to unpack my things and find places for everything in his house and learn my way around town . . . major meltdown. I think hubby probably thought he married a crazy person there for a second.

Now who else wants to play and be a victim?!! I tag Tammy, Heather, Surf Girl, and Carolina Girl to play.

Good Book

If you like the show "Ghost Whisperer" and you love the South, especially Charleston, SC, then check out the book "The House on Tradd Street" by Karen White. I am in the middle of reading it and it's pretty good - a great lay by the pool read!!

Good luck with that

Hubby's house is on the market. It's only been 2 weeks so we're not desparate (yet). Had our first offer on the house. This is what they offered:
  • Wanted to move in July 1 (yep, they wanted us out in 3 weeks and we were actually willing to make it happen. The house we want is vacant so it could be done)
  • Then wanted to rent from us from July 1 to October 1 so that they could take advantage of Obama's 3 year new homeowner rebate (so basically we'd be carrying 2 mortgages and hoping and praying that they didn't screw us, but we were again willing to do this and our lender had already checked to make sure we would qualify)
  • Offered $14,000 below the asking price
  • Wanted $5,000 in closing costs
  • Offered $10 for my washer/dryer

Are you people smoking crack or something???? Sure, and why don't I help pack up your house and move you too!! Geesh!! Uh, that would be a big fat NO!! And good luck finding someone who will do all that for you!

Awesome Giveaway!

Hurry! Living in the Moment is hosting an awesome giveaway!

Stainless Steel Appliances

Do you love them or hate them?? I love the look of them, but are they a pain in the butt to keep clean? I think I'd go crazy if there were fingerprints all over. The house that we really like is without a refrigerator. The stove and dishwasher are both black. Do we go ahead and purchase a stainless steel fridge with the plan to later replace the stove and dishwasher to stainless steel or we do purchase a black refrigerator and keep everything black?

Cross your fingers

and your toes!!!! We officially put hubby's house on the market a week and a half ago. A teacher came by Sunday and loved it, but doesn't have her contract yet with the county where she teaches and she needs to be able to show her contract before her lender will loan her the money. We have another showing today and tomorrow . . . please keep your fingers and toes crossed that someone buys it soon!!! It's a great house, just too small for us. When we got married, I sold my townhouse and had to find places in Hubby's house to put my stuff - it was very frustrating at times!!! Now we want to buy "our" house and I can't wait!! We have found one that we like, but would like to have a contract on hubby's house before making an offer on that house. I don't understand why a house built in 2004 and at the price point they are asking for it, doesn't have granite countertops!!! We've been really surprised by the lack of nice kitchens. This kitchen is a good size with lots of cabinets, but down the road I want to replace the countertops with granite. Keep those fingers crossed!!!

I'd Rather Be Here

Happy Anniversary Hubby!! I'd rather be here where this picture was taken . . . on the porch of Poogan's Porch in Charleston, South Carolina on our honeymoon, enjoying Southern food, walking the streets of Charleston and hanging out with you!!
